{"id":1048,"date":"2011-07-20T17:45:14","date_gmt":"2011-07-20T21:45:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.domainandtrademark.com\/?p=1048"},"modified":"2019-08-09T09:09:24","modified_gmt":"2019-08-09T13:09:24","slug":"dc-comics-wins-domain-name-dispute","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cscdbs.com\/blog\/dc-comics-wins-domain-name-dispute\/","title":{"rendered":"DC Comics wins domain name dispute"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>DC Comics has won a dispute over the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cscglobal.com\/global\/web\/csc\/domain-name-management.html\">domain name<\/a> manofsteel.com, it has been reported.<\/p>\n<p>The legendary comics company has been determined to retrieve the manofsteel.com name in order to capitalize on the planned 2012 film release of the same name.<\/p>\n<p>Fusible.com reports that on July 19 a single-member panel of the National Arbitration Forum ruled that the domain name should be transferred from its current owner to DC Comics.<\/p>\n<p>DC had filed a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cscglobal.com\/global\/web\/csc\/domain-name-management.html\">domain<\/a> dispute against Coni c\/o LBR Enterprises in late June, the website said.<\/p>\n<p>The panelist, James Carmody, agreed that manofsteel.com is identical to DC Comics&#8217; already existing trademarks, Man of Steel and The Man of Steel, registered in 1999 and 1987 respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Carmody found that because the domain name went to a website that displayed links and advertisements that &#8220;the respondent\u2019s use of the domain name was neither a bona fide offering of goods or services, nor a legitimate non-commercial or fair use,&#8221; Fusible reported.<\/p>\n<p>Coni c\/o LBR Enterprises failed to submit a response in the case.<\/p>\n<p>Man of Steel is set to be released in December 2012.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>DC Comics has won a dispute over the domain name manofsteel.com, it has been reported.
