The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN<\/a>) is inviting domain name<\/a> stakeholders from the developing world to bid for subsidised places at its 43rd public meeting.<\/p>\n

ICANN is now accepting online applications for the 15th round of its Fellowship program, with respect to the meeting in San Jose, Costa Rica, between March 11th and 16th 2012.<\/p>\n

The program exists to provide financial support to underprivileged applicants who are interested in participating in ICANN and its supporting organizations, constituencies and stakeholder groups.<\/p>\n

Priority is given to individuals new to the ICANN environment from government and the country code top level domain community, as well as those from academic, civil, business and not-for-profit bodies.<\/p>\n

This is designed to ensure all parties with an interest in global domain name issues are able to have their voices heard \u2013 irrespective of where they originate from.<\/p>\n

The Fellowship program arranges the airfare, hotel and a stipend for individuals selected to participate in the ICANN meeting.<\/p>\n

In return, recipients are expected to actively participate in and contribute to ICANN domain name processes, both at the meeting and in the future.<\/p>\n

Applications for the meeting in Costa Rica will be accepted up until November 14th 2011, with the successful candidates announced by December 22nd.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
