Yet, nearly half of enterprises still rely on WHOIS-based email for this process\u2014despite a 2024 announcement by the CA\/B Forum to deprecate it due to known security flaws.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Companies need to adopt alternative methods or face downtime upon their next certificate renewal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The risk is real\u2014and it\u2019s not just about 2025<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Not only are 40% of organizations unprepared, but <strong>17% don\u2019t even know how they\u2019re validating their domains today<\/strong>. This lack of visibility opens the door to operational disruption, reputation harm, and security breaches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After 2025, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cscdbs.com\/blog\/still-using-whois-for-ssl-validation-do-these-3-things-now\/\">DCV re-use periods<\/a> and certificate lifespans will begin to shrink dramatically every year\u2014ultimately reaching just <strong>10 days<\/strong> for DCV re-use periods, and <strong>47 days <\/strong>for certificate life cycles by 2029. This means <strong>eight certificate renewals per year<\/strong>, with each issuance, renewal, and re-issue, demanding DCV.
