The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN<\/a>) is to change its internationalized domain name<\/a> (IDN) country code top level domain name (ccTLD) fast track process implementation plan.<\/p>\n

ICANN has provided a notice of publication for the revised implementation plan, which was settled by the board of directors on December 8th.<\/p>\n

Changes are being made to the IDN ccTLD fast track process following stakeholder feedback at the 42nd ICANN public meeting held in Sakar, Senegal.<\/p>\n

The amendment is to address specific cases when a requested IDN ccTLD string may be confusingly similar with the two-letter ASCII ccTLD corresponding to the same country or territory.<\/p>\n

Countries using IDNs are now able to support websites in non-Latin languages, such as Arabic, Cyrillic and Mandarin.<\/p>\n

This work was developed out of the ccNSO Council Resolution from the ICANN meeting in San Francisco in March 2011.<\/p>\n

An initial review of the IDN ccTLD fast track process was carried out between October and January 2011, with a summary published back in February.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
