A private college being set up in London, UK, is facing official objections to its bid to trademark<\/a> its name, it has been reported.<\/p>\n

The New College of the Humanities, which has been founded with the participation of some of the world’s best-known academics, submitted a proposal to trademark its title last May, the BBC said.<\/p>\n

But the Intellectual Property Office (IPO), the body responsible for registering such names in the UK, has objected to the proposal.<\/p>\n

The New College of the Humanities says it is planning to resubmit its name and is confident of a successful application, the BBC said.<\/p>\n

The IPO did not give reasons for its objection.<\/p>\n

The college was quoted as saying that it would “reapply to trademark its name in due course and we expect a reapplication to be successful”, adding that it had “applied for its name to be trademarked before it launched and before it had been used.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
