{"id":1731,"date":"2012-02-06T10:10:28","date_gmt":"2012-02-06T14:10:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.domainandtrademark.com\/?p=1731"},"modified":"2019-08-09T09:05:21","modified_gmt":"2019-08-09T13:05:21","slug":"businesses-warned-over-domain-name-hijacking","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cscdbs.com\/blog\/businesses-warned-over-domain-name-hijacking\/","title":{"rendered":"Businesses warned over domain name hijacking"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p><a title=\"https:\/\/www.cscglobal.com\/global\/web\/csc\/domain-name-management.html\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cscglobal.com\/global\/web\/csc\/domain-name-management.html\">Domain  name<\/a> hijacking is becoming a more potent threat to online businesses, it has  been suggested.<\/p>\n<p>Writing for CIO.com, Meridith Levinson explained that fraudsters and hackers  are increasingly targeting websites, putting sensitive information at risk.<\/p>\n<p>The way confidential information is shared is being compromised, she  suggested.<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Levinson explained that some organizations&#8217; email can be hacked over an  extended period of time, without them even realizing it.<\/p>\n<p>Ram Mohan, a board member of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and  Numbers, explained that one company saw its mail compromised for five months,  with outsiders &#8220;listening in&#8221; on all activity.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;That&#8217;s one of the worst cases because it&#8217;s disguised and hidden and nobody  knows unless you notice where the address is going,&#8221; he stated.<\/p>\n<p>As such domain name owners need to take steps to guard their internet real  estate, and ensure key account information is kept secure.<\/p>\n<p>Domain names are valuable corporate assets, and this should be reflected in  company security policy.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Domain name hijacking is becoming a more potent threat to online businesses, it has been suggested.
