Businesses have been reminded of the value of using the Madrid System for Registration of Trademarks as they look to market their brands across the world.<\/p>\n

The International News explained how companies using the mechanism can protect their services and products for global sale.<\/p>\n

The Madrid System is an international trademark<\/a> registration process, comprising two facets – the Madrid Agreement and Madrid Protocol.<\/p>\n

Some 85 countries are signed up to the system, allowing companies in these nations to seek global intellectual property rights.<\/p>\n

“The trademark allows a consumer to distinguish between similar products and stop counterfeiters,” the news provider stated.<\/p>\n

“Geographical Indications help a country win a respectable place in a global market based on its agricultural and industrial strengths.”<\/p>\n
