{"id":3138,"date":"2013-02-18T12:46:35","date_gmt":"2013-02-18T17:46:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.domainandtrademark.com\/?p=3138"},"modified":"2019-08-09T08:54:57","modified_gmt":"2019-08-09T12:54:57","slug":"gordon-ramsay-hands-over-the-spotted-pig-trademark","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cscdbs.com\/blog\/gordon-ramsay-hands-over-the-spotted-pig-trademark\/","title":{"rendered":"Gordon Ramsay hands over The Spotted Pig trademark"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>World-renowned chef Gordon Ramsay has agreed to give the UK <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cscglobal.com\/global\/web\/csc\/trademark-searching.html\">trademark<\/a> for The Spotted Pig to the owners of a U.S. bar and restaurant bearing the name.<\/p>\n<p>Ramsay was on the receiving end of a lot of criticism from fellow chefs &#8211; including Anthony Bourdain and Jamie Oliver &#8211; after he revealed plans to gain ownership of the trademark in the UK last year, Bloomberg reports.<\/p>\n<p>However, a statement from Gordon Ramsay Holdings released yesterday (February 14th) said: &#8220;We have been liaising with The Spotted Pig in New York for some months and had arranged for the trademark to be passed to them once it was registered.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Under the terms of the deal, the U.S. eatery &#8211; which is owned by chefs Mario Batali and April Bloomfield &#8211; has the right to use the name for the next ten years.<\/p>\n<p>This means Mr. Batali and Ms. Bloomfield are now free to open up a restaurant in the UK under this name.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Trademark disputes often take years to resolve and consume parties\u2019 resources of both time and money.\u00a0 Kudos to Chef Ramsay for settling the issue in a timely fashion!&#8221; says Malia Horine, Brand Protection Expert at <a title=\"Brand Protection\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cscglobal.com\/global\/web\/csc\/domains-and-trademarks.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Corporation Service Company<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>World-renowned chef Gordon Ramsay has agreed to give the UK trademark for The Spotted Pig to the owners of a U.S. bar and restaurant bearing the name.
