{"id":364,"date":"2010-08-17T05:02:19","date_gmt":"2010-08-17T09:02:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.domainandtrademark.com\/?p=364"},"modified":"2019-08-09T09:11:41","modified_gmt":"2019-08-09T13:11:41","slug":"xxx-now-offering-pre-reservation-of-domain-names-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cscdbs.com\/blog\/xxx-now-offering-pre-reservation-of-domain-names-2\/","title":{"rendered":".XXX Now Offering \u201cPre-reservation\u201d of Domain Names"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After 6 years of controversy, the ICM Registry\u2019s application for the .XXX TLD was approved by the ICANN Board in late June 2010.\u00a0 ICM is currently engaged in contract negotiations with ICANN and does not expect to launch until Q4 of 2010 or Q1 of 2011, however, in the interim the Registry has announced that they are now accepting \u201cpre-reservation requests\u201d for .XXX domains.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A pre-reservation request is simply an \u201cexpression of interest\u201d in a particular .XXX domain name.\u00a0 It is NOT a domain name registration and there is ABSOLUTELY no guarantee the requestor will be given preference and\/or awarded the domain name when .XXX registration opens in Q4 of 2010 or Q1 of 2011.<\/p>\n<p>The following individuals and\/or entities\u00a0are eligible to submit a pre-reservation request for a .XXX domain:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Adult Industry &#8211; <\/strong>Community Members who are the registered holders of an adult site created\u00a0before Feb 1st 2010, may submit a reservation request for the corresponding names in .XXX .<\/li>\n<li><strong>Intellectual Property Owners &#8211; <\/strong>Intellectual property rights holders who are not members of the Community will also be permitted to submit a reservation request for domains that they currently own and use in their business.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Community Expressions of Interest &#8211; <\/strong>Members of the Community may submit expressions of interest in names they do not currently hold in another TLD. If these names are not otherwise reserved or the subject of industry reservation requests submitted by existing holders, they may be allocated among those who have expressed interest using a methodology to be determined prior to general registration.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Qualifying registrants may pre-reserve .XXX names by visiting the<a title=\"ICM\" href=\"https:\/\/domains.icmregistry.com\/reserve.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> ICM<\/a> registry website.\u00a0 If you would like CSC to assist with the submission of your
