The Conficker Working Group (CWG) has announced that it is immensely proud of its success in tackling the malware threat by collaborating with a huge number of private and public sector organizations.<\/p>\n
Conficker is the most prolific computer-based infection and has affected thousands of IT organizations, from small and medium-sized enterprises all the way up to international government bodies.<\/p>\n
The CWG, which includes members from the likes of Microsoft and the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), has been working closely with domain name operators to stamp out the so-called ‘worm.’<\/p>\n
According to CWG, it has been successful in registering and blocking domain names that host the conflicker virus.<\/p>\n
However, the new report from CWG also highlighted the failings of the organization.<\/p>\n
“The Working Group sees its biggest failure as the inability to remediate infected computers and eliminate the threat of the botnet,” the report noted.<\/p>\n
Recently, a PricerwaterhouseCoopers report claimed: “A new wave of internet worms such as Conficker has taken over PCs, which are then used to send spam or attack other organizations.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
