Domain Name Enforcement in a Post-GDPR Era<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

Since the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) came into effect on May 25, 2018, anyone employed in trademark enforcement has had to contend with a new, sizeable roadblock when investigating infringing domain names. Pre-GDPR, it was fairly simple to find out if the domain name registrant owned other domain names, provided they weren\u2019t using a privacy service. One registrant\u2019s list of domain names could reveal more infringements, helping establish a pattern of bad faith registration\u2014 potentially giving enforcement professionals the possibility of submitting a single complaint to recover several domains.<\/p>\n

Launch Details for .INC Start to Form<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

Intercap Holdings Inc. announced plans to launch the .inc gTLD at the beginning of 2019. A sunrise phase for trademark holders begins on January 16, 2019, and will run through February 20, 2019. Domains during the sunrise phase are available on a first-come, first-served basis. The registry does not intend placing any additional restrictions on domains for this TLD. There will be no reserved or premium distinctions for .inc domains. General Availability starts on February 20, 2019, and includes a 7 day Early Access Period for priority registration.
