Holiday\nShopping Starts Now! How Will 11.11, Black Friday, and Cyber Monday eCommerce\nDomains Trend? Part 1<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\nmonth of November marks the start of a busy shopping period in both the offline\nand online worlds, not only because of the proximity of the festive time of\nyear, but also because of a number of specific commerce-related events. In this\narticle\u2014the first in a series of two\u2014CSC looks at domain registration trends\nrelated to holiday shopping. Read the full blog here:<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

EURid\nBegins Final Phase Out of Greek IDN<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eurid, the registry for .eu domains, announced two corresponding\nmoves relating to Greek IDNs. IDN.eu domains with Greek characters will be phased\nout of existence, while the registry also launches a entirely Greek IDN\nextension, .\u03b5\u03c5 (.xn--qxa6a). This action follows a similar phase out of\nCyrillic IDN.eu domains that began in 2016 and completed June 2019. Starting\nNovember 14, 2019, .\u03b5\u03c5 domains will be available for registration to the\ngeneral public in a first-come, first serve release. The new extension will\nfollow the standard regulations of .eu domains. Registrations for this new\nIDN.IDN version of eu will only allow the use of Greek characters. At the same\ntime as the launch of .\u03b5\u03c5, the registry will begin a 3 year Script Adjustment\nPhase to eliminate existing Greek IDN.eu domains. EURid will fully enforce the\nbasic rule that the second level script must match the top-level script. The\nregistry will clone existing Greek IDN.eu domains to the corresponding Greek\nIDN.IDN version of the domain and reserve the domain for registration by the\ncurrent registrant. After November 13, 2022, .\u03b5\u03c5 domains not registered by the\nRegistrant for which the domain was reserved will be released for registration\nby any eligible registrant.
