Last weekend, the\nU.S. Department of Homeland Security\u2019s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure\nSecurity Agency (CISA) issued an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.us-cert.gov\/ncas\/alerts\/aa20-006a\">alert<\/a>\nhighlighting some of these business risks. This was followed up by a hack of a\nU.S. government website,&nbsp;fdlp.gov, and continued attacks on other U.S.\nstate agencies, like the Texas Department of Agriculture website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s\nanticipated that cyber security will be compromised to purposefully impact\nvital infrastructure and business assets. Tactics may vary, but according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.us-cert.gov\/ncas\/alerts\/aa20-006a\">CISA\u2019s latest alert<\/a>, DNS hijacking, distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks, and\nother cyber threats may be used by Iran to disrupt business activity and take\ncontrol of vital internet assets, <a href=\"https:\/\/krebsonsecurity.com\/2019\/02\/a-deep-dive-on-the-recent-widespread-dns-hijacking-attacks\/\">as\nit did in 2019<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In response\nto these events and because of continued lack of security controls to mitigate\nrisk with an organization\u2019s domain names, domain name systems (DNS), and\ndigital certificates, CSC encourages its clients and corporations across the\nglobe to adopt a defense in depth approach to securing vital domain names, DNS,\nand digital certificates. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Protections\nare not limited to assessing the security, controls, and processes of your\ndomain name registrar and DNS management provider, such as implementing two-factor\nauthentication, monitoring DNS activity, and using security measures like\ndomain name registry locks, DNS security extensions (DNSSEC), domain-based\nmessage authentication, reporting, and conformance (DMARC), and redundancy on DNS\nhosting. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For\nimmediate assistance on this developing situation, please contact your CSC\nrepresentative to confirm access to CSC Security Center<sup>SM<\/sup>.
