Coronavirus effect on our industry
\n<\/strong>The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak has prompted many\norganizations to execute their business continuity plan (BCP); giving employees\nsecure remote access through a virtual private network (VPN). Although VPN is\ncommonplace in business, the sudden surge in vast and prolonged use in affected\nregions may expose organizations to new risks. Our email protection partner, Proofpoint, reports a significant increase in malicious emails mentioning coronavirus since the end of January. As a result, it has put additional tracking on coronavirus email threats for its customers. The life cycle of digital certificates reduces again

DOT BRAND UPDATE<\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Which\nindustry takes the lead in dot brand use?
\n<\/strong>.BRAND owners are increasingly registering domain names, with\nthe domains under management (DUM) count across all .BRANDs steadily climbing by\nan average of 5.7K each year. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The insurance industry leads with its DUM\nfigures over 200% higher than the next closest sector\u2014automotive, tires, and\nother vehicles. This disparity is largely due to .DVAG and .MMA\u2014the top two activated\n.BRANDs by DUM. Most of .MMA and .DVAG\u2019s domain names are used in compliance\nmanagement, i.e., .MMA affords one .BRAND domain name per agency office, and\n.DVAG empowers its employees with each of their names in .DVAG.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

DOMAIN\nUPDATES<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

.ME premium domain release
\n<\/strong>The .ME registry will release their premium domain inventory to\nthe primary registrar channel beginning March 4, 2020. Domains still listed\nwith a reserve status after the release will be available for application using\nthe current premium application process. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

.Compare and .select your new domains
\n<\/strong>Neustar registry announced plans to launch two previously closed\ngTLDs: .compare and .select. Both TLDs will include a sunrise phase for\ntrademark holders beginning April 6, 2020. The TLD will then release for general\navailability on May 6, 2020. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Top-level .AR domain launch delayed<\/strong>
\n<\/strong>The registry for .AR domains, NIC.AR, announced the postponement\nof general availability for the launch of top-level .AR. The registry\nexperienced technical issues processing payments for the recently concluded\nlimited registration phase\u2019s applications, which remains closed. The phase\nended January 27, 2020. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
