{"id":952,"date":"2011-06-14T16:16:46","date_gmt":"2011-06-14T20:16:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.domainandtrademark.com\/?p=952"},"modified":"2019-08-09T09:09:40","modified_gmt":"2019-08-09T13:09:40","slug":"ski-resort-accepts-fault-over-cybersquatting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cscdbs.com\/blog\/ski-resort-accepts-fault-over-cybersquatting\/","title":{"rendered":"Ski resort accepts fault over cybersquatting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The operators of a New Zealand ski resort have apologized for registering <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cscglobal.com\/global\/web\/csc\/domain-name-management.html\">domain names<\/a> related to rival operators, it has been reported.<\/p>\n<p>Snow Park shareholder Sean Synnott told the <em>Southland Times <\/em>that his firm had registered a number of domain names unrelated to the company.<\/p>\n<p>The firm held the legal rights to domain names including nzski.co, coronetpeak.co, treblecone.co and cardrona.co, all of which redirected customers to the Snow Park website.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Synnott accepted that the move was &#8220;potentially naive&#8221; and could be interpreted as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cscglobal.com\/global\/web\/csc\/domain-recovery.html\">cybersquatting<\/a>. He said the firm had now stopped using the domain names, adding that there had been nothing underhanded about his company&#8217;s actions in the domain name market.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There was nothing sinister about it,&#8221; Mr. Synnott told the news provider.<\/p>\n<p>He explained that Snow Park had been invited to bid for the available .co domain names through an auction process last year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The operators of a New Zealand ski resort have apologized for registering domain names related to rival operators, it has been reported.
