The Reserve Bank of India is introducing ‘bank. in’ and ‘fin.in’ domains. The introduction of the exclusive Internet Domain, ‘.bank.in’ for banks, is intended to combat the increased instances of fraud in digital payments in India. This initiative is aimed at strengthening the cybersecurity framework and enhancing public confidence in digital banking and payment systems. All Domain Registrations of ‘.bank.in’ domains for banks will be possible through the Institute for Development and Research in Banking Technology (IDRBT), which has been authorized by National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI), under the aegis of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), to serve as the exclusive registrar for this domain. All banks registered in India and operating in India are advised to contact the IDRBT to confirm whether they are required to transition to the .bank.in domain. .xxx policy update
On 20 November 2024, the newly renewed .xxx Registry Agreement became effective, that included important changes to the operation of the .XXX TLD.
The extension originally launched as a sponsored extension, and only members of the adult community were able to register the domains for active use. All other registrations by non-members were placed on a server hold status and were not active on the DNS. With the policy change, effective as of 1 June 2025, the .XXX extension will no longer require a membership in the Sponsored Community and will become fully unrestricted, allowing all registrants to register domains for active use. Starting May 22nd new registrations no longer require the membership and will no longer be placed on server hold. All currently registered domains will be removed from the server hold status and will be able to resolve on the DNS. The Kuwait domain registry has announced the availability of top-level .KW domain registrations for the first time. This launch will take place between September 2024 and September 2025, beginning with a 6-month long Sunrise period. Applications during Sunrise will require a matching trademark and will be accepted on a first-come, first served basis. International trademarks are welcome, no local presence in Kuwait will be required.
