A property investment firm has acquired six domain names from cybersquatters in the last 12 months, as it continues to protect its major trademark.
HomeVestors, which holds the legal rights to the trademark We Buy Ugly Houses, said it has pursued an “aggressive” stance against cyber- and typosquatting.
The firm said it is in the process of taking over several more domain names which are seen to be derivatives of the We Buy Ugly Houses trademark.
Some ten other websites and unauthorized social media accounts have also been deactivated over the last 12 months.
HomeVestors co-president David Hicks commented that the firm has spent a great deal of time and money building its brand.
“It is very important for us to maintain the strength of that brand for the benefit of our company and our franchisees,” he stated.
“We will continue to pursue those who would infringe upon our trademarks in the interest of hijacking our customers or discrediting our hard-earned reputation.”
