Musical couple seek trademark for baby daughter’s name

Two of the world’s leading urban music stars are seeking the trademark to their baby daughter’s name, it has been reported.

Beyoncé and Jay-Z are attempting to secure the legal rights to the name of their newborn Blue Ivy.

The trademark attempt comes after a New York designer filed a trademark application for the term ‘Blue Ivy Carter NYC’.

This application was lodged with the US Patent and Trademark Office on January 11th 2012, just four days after former Destiny’s Child singer Beyoncé gave birth.

Another applicant filed on January 20th for ‘Blue Ivy Carter Glory IV’, seeking to use the child’s name on a new line of perfume.

And in light of these developments, the musical couple – who married in 2008 – have made their own application for intellectual property rights.

This was filed by Beyoncé’s company BGK Trademark Holding, and has entered the fast-track trademark registration process.
