What is The State of Online IP Risk 2026 report?

The State of Online IP Risk 2026 examines how AI, evolving digital channels, changing regulation, and the growth of the domain namespace are reshaping online intellectual property (IP) threats and protection.

The report presents findings from a 2026 survey of 300 senior executives specializing in IP law, including general counsel, chief legal officers, and chief technology officers. Respondents were distributed evenly across Europe, North America, and Asia Pacific.

A key theme in the report is AI’s role as a force multiplier for online IP infringement, which has enabled fraudulent content, impersonation, and other threats to spread more quickly and convincingly. At the same time, organizations actively use AI to automate and scale their own IP monitoring and protection efforts, making governance, enforcement capacity, and specialist expertise increasingly important.
