“It’s always DNS!” is a popular meme among system administrators. It’s often associated with a failure in the internal application of the DNS, however DNS poses a much larger threat.

Concentrating on internal networks reflects the predominant focus in cyber security of securing networks within firewalls. Under the new norm, such an approach may prove insufficient, as most cyber threats originate outside of the controllable network. Companies need to reevaluate the concept of cyber security from network security to inter-network security.
