Extended validation (EV) certificate – Offers the highest level of validation, documenting the legal, physical, and operational existence of the domain name registrant. It proves that the organization behind the website is the true owner and comes with a signature for a certificate authority key.

It uses domain name system (DNS) records and requires only a one-time deployment, eliminating the need for repetitive validations during certificate renewals. It significantly reduces the time and effort required to manage certificate life cycles—making it an essential tool as the industry moves toward shorter certificate validity periods.
For an added layer of security, CSC can implement a digital certificate policy with CAA records on DNS zone files. A CAA record allows you—as the domain owner—to indicate which certificate authorities are permitted to issue certificates for a given domain name.
This is not only an essential technical control for policy enforcement, but also helps to prevent cybercriminals adding encryption or HTTPS with free, low validation digital certificates on a site in a domain shadowing attack.
